The Best Robot Mops for Easier Cleaning

Mopping can sometimes be a huge task for most of us. From buckets full of dirty water, to unsanitary (and gross) mop fibers, it’s a labor-intensive chore that’s in dire need of an upgrade. Thankfully, robot mops are here to make your life easier. All you have to do is fill up the tank, press start, and let them do their thing.

While we certain that these are not available in many countries, having one shipped down for you wouldn’t be a bad idea.

One of the plusses of these essential gadgets is that some of them can be controlled by your phone or voice, and some even double as robot vacuums. We’ve rounded up the best ones recommended by cleaning experts, along with some buying tips to help you keep your floors sparkling.

Things to Consider When Buying or Ordering a Robot Mop

Read reviews. The first thing to do is to read about the product you’re buying, especially if you have to order online. Read about buyers’ experiences from ordering to usage; focus on both the good sides and downsides. This will prepare you for what’s coming and help you make better buying decision.

Choose the one that works for you. You’ll have to decide between the three types of robot mops – wet mops, dry-sweep and mop combos, and mop and vacuum combos. Wet mops squirt water onto your floor to loosen dirt, then wipe up the soiled liquid. Very few suction up the dirty water. Others that combine vacuuming or sweeping with mopping use damp disposable or reusable microfiber pads to wet-clean hard floors.

To hybrid or not? Every robot mop shares a few things in common. They generally come with reservoirs you need to fill up with water and/or cleaning solution, and microfiber cloths that scrub your floors and pick up dirt. They also feature sensors to help them autonomously navigate around your furniture.

Hybrids, as you might expect, can mop and vacuum. They typically have attachments for microfiber cloths that wipe or scrub your floors as the robot runs around your home. Most these days also feature an interchangeable dustbin and water tank, so you don’t need to do any presoaking before it starts cleaning. These hybrid models are typically more expensive, but they’re also more likely to have features like app control via your phone, voice control via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, and even interactivity with other smart home devices.

Battery life. Look for rechargeable batteries that last at least 90 minutes. If you have a larger space to clean, look for robot mops that recharge and resume, returning after charging to where they stopped cleaning to finish the job.

Easy setup and maintenance. The easier the better when it comes to charging the robot mop, filling and emptying the water tank, removing or replacing the cleaning pads, and setting it up to clean once or on a regular schedule.

Safety for floor surfaces. If your home is mostly wood floors, be sure the robot mop you select is designed to clean that surface. All robot mops are safe for vinyl and tile floors.

Floor and carpet sensors. If you have a mix of carpet and wood floor, choose a robot mop that can determine the difference. Some robot mops have mapping features, which allow you to select only certain areas to clean.

App integration. This is helpful if you like to see what your robot is up to, access maintenance issues, or schedule cleaning sessions in advance or while you are away. You can also set up no-go zones that should not be cleaned via app instead of manually blocking off the space.

With Samsung’s double-pad JetBot, you’ll definitely cover twice the ground of other robot mops in a single pass. The Jetbot Mop uses two spinning microfiber pads – one for dry buffing and the other for wet cleaning – to clean and navigate with ease. Because the pads extend out from underneath the device, it can sweep in tight corners and along edges more efficiently than traditional circular robotic mops. Simply fill the reservoirs above each pad with tap water to keep the spinning pads continually moist as it cleans. It has two water tanks to keep the pads wet, and it’s safe to use on just about every type of hard floor, including tile, vinyl, laminate, and hardwood.

You can select from eight different cleaning modes and patterns to tackle edges, focus on dirty spots, clean randomly and more. The JetBot’s slim design makes it easy to store and there’s even a handheld mode for using it on stairs and other above-the-floor surfaces. At this great price, it comes with a remote control and a drip tray, but isn’t that sophisticated. You’ll have to block off areas you don’t want it to go and it doesn’t sense on its own when it’s finished cleaning.   What really sets this high-quality model apart from other robot mops is the fact that it’s designed for manual use, too. You can use the “Hand Mode” to scrub specific areas while holding onto the handle attached to the top of the mop. So not only can it clean your floors for you, but you can also lift it up to clean tile on walls or other surfaces. Amazon reviews say it works well, stays quiet, and comes at a great value.

For added peace of mind, you can also set no-mop boundaries though the app for any areas you’d prefer the Eufy not to go.
